Probe Begins into Fake Bomb Incident

KOLLAM: The city police have started an investigation into the incident in which a box fitted with LED lights was found from the bus station near College Junction here on Saturday.

According to Assistant Commissioner of Police K Lalji, it was the Flying Squad which first spotted the box at around 9.30 p.m.

‘’While passing through the area, the Flying Squad spotted the glow of red lights from the bus station and an inspection there unearthed a box which resembled a soldering kit. As the personnel suspected that it could be a bomb, they immediately informed the Control Room which, in turn, alerted the Bomb Squad and the Dog Squad for their service. After confirming that it was not a bomb, we opened the packet and inspected its contents,’’ Lalji said.

According to him, the box consisted of four mobile phone batteries, a mobile charger, parts of a mobile phone and other waste, likely from a workshop.
