Vigil Over Kerala Coasts Tightened as Terror Alert Sounded

THRISSUR:Intelligence inputs say that there are increasing possibilities of a terrorist strike along the coastal lines of Kerala, said Thrissur Rural SP N Vijayakumar IPS, addressing mediapersons on Monday.

He said that in view of the rise in criminal activities connected with communal and regional politics in the coastal areas, a new police control room at Kodungalloor would be inaugurated on Thursday, he said quoting Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala on Monday.

“Two control rooms have been allotted, one for Kasargod and one for Thrissur. These are also to control the narcotics smuggling rhrough the coastal regions lately,” he said and  added that the control rooms would function round the clock and would employ 18 Sub-inspectors, 36 CPOs and 18 drivers. Half the posts would be filled in from the reserve cadets and the other half would be newly created posts, he said.
