KOTTAYAM: P C George MLA on Saturday expressed regret in mentioning C L Anto, a confidant of former Chief Minister K Karunakaran, as the kingpin of the Solar Scam, in a press release issued by him recently.

George told ‘Express’, that it was a typographical error made by one of his staff members, during the preparation of the release.

“I express my deep regret in mentioning C L Anto as the kingpin of the Solar Scam in my statement. It was an error inadvertently made by my staff member while scribbling down my statement. I intended to mention the name of Anto Antony MP, who played a pivotal role in the scam. In fact, C L Anto who is a noble person and gentleman to the core, submitted a report to CM Oommen Chandy for two projects together worth Rs 1,60,000 core, which included waste management and solar energy utilisation, with a good intention.

However, the proposal for solar project was later manipulated by some Congress leaders with the help of Saritha S Nair. C L Anto was in no way connected with scam,” George said.
