'Job Training Centre for Forest Dwelling Youth on the Cards'

KOTTAYAM:The demand for a job training centre for the youngsters belonging to the forest dwelling category would be considered, Forest Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan said here on Sunday.

He was inaugurating the ‘Gotra sangamam’ held as part of the 24th state meet of the Ullada Mahasabha at Thirunakkara Maidan here.

Measures should be taken to provide land for the owners of the forest, said the minister, who also presented the Gomitra Awards to the winners during the function presided over by Mahasabha state president P R Reji.

 BJP state secretary A N Radhakrishnan  carried out the state-level inauguration of the Ekalavya Self-help Groups. Mahasabha general secretary S Sunil Kumar and convenor V S Chandran also spoke on the occasion among others. The procession with band music that was taken out from the Police Ground here concluded at the Thirunakkara Maidan.

The programme saw a participation of hundreds of people, including women. Various cultural programmes were also held as part of the meet.
