'Maoist' Sent to Judicial Custody

VADAKARA:The Judicial First Class Magistrate Court, Payyoli, on Monday remanded A Rajeesh, a suspected Maoist who was arrested by local police the other day, in 14 days’ judicial custody at the Koyilandy Sub-jail.

According to sources, the police will soon approach the court seeking his custody for detailed interrogation. “Rajeesh, who has close connections with Maoist leader Roopesh, had functioned as an intermediary to supply arms to Maoists in North Kerala. More details including whether he had been directly involved in any Maoist activities in the region can be exposed only after a detailed investigation,” said the police.

The arrest was made by a team led by the Payyoli Circle Inspector based on the information from the Special Branch. The cops had also recovered documents and notices linked with Maoist leaders, said the police.
