Laksharchana Held at Sabarimala Shrine

SABARIMALA: Laksharchana, Sahasrakalasam and Kalabhabhishekam were held at the Lord Ayyappa temple here on the second day of the monthly pooja for the Malayalam month of Idavom on Saturday.

As part of Laksharchana, Brahamakalasa pooja was held at the Mandapam of the temple under the leadership of Thantri Kandararu Rajeevaru in the presence of Melsanthi Krishnadas Nampoothiri, followed by a recital of Vedic mantras by a dozen scholars.

The ritual  concluded after kalasabhishekam on the idol of Lord Ayyappa during Uchcha pooja.

In connection with Sahasrakalasam, kalasa pooja was conducted at Sopanam at 7 pm on Friday by the thantri. Kalasabhishekam , marking the conclusion of the ritual, was held during Uchcha pooja.

Kalabhabhishekam was the other special ritual held at the temple on the second day of the monthly pooja. As part of the Kalabhabhishekam, Thantri Rajeevaru in the presence of the Melsanthi conducted Kalabhakalasa pooja at 10.30 am.

The ritual concluded with Kalabhabhishekam on the idol of the Lord during Uchcha pooja after the procession carrying the Brahamakalasam circumambulating the Sreekovil.

Udayasthamana pooja, Padi pooja  and Pushpabhishekam were the other rituals held at the temple. The hill shrine will be closed on Tuesday, marking the conclusion of the five-day monthly poojas for the Malayalam month of Idavom, after Athazha pooja and Harivarasanam.

Sabarimala Devaswom executive officer V S Jayakumar said the temple would be reopened on May 28 evening for the celebration of the idol reinstallation ceremony, slated to be held on May 29.
