ALAPPUZHA:“Throughout its first year in power, the Narendra Modi Government has been neglecting the common people of the country for the corporates,” said UDF convener P P Thankachan has said. He was speaking after inaugurating the state meet of the JSS (Rajan Babu wing) here on Saturday.
“BJP’s election manifesto was people-friendly. But, ever since the Modi Government assumed power with a mass support, all decisions are being taken in favour of the corporates,” he said. “The price of essential commodities are skyrocketing and the prices of petrol and diesel are being hiked within a fortnight,” he said.
The UDF convener also took a dig at the Prime Minister’s foreign tours by stating that Modi was a touring Prime Minister. “In the 365-days rule, he was off the country most of the time,”he said . “ It’s high time to protest against this kind of misrule and the Congress will launch protest against anti-people policies of Union Government,” he added.
Thankachan also said that K R Gouri had deceived the UDF. The Congress had accommodated her party when it was expelled from the CPM. Now, she is trying to join the LDF. She must realise that the LDF will deceive her again,” he said.
Party state president K K Shaju presided over the function. K C Venugopal MP, A A Azeez MLA, party president Rajanbabu, secretary R Ponnappan, district president P S Gopalakrishnan and K T Ithihas spoke at the function.Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala will inaugurate a seminar on Sunday.
