CM Plans to Build 2K Houses, Toilets

PUDUCHERRY: The UT administration proposes to construct homes for 2,000 persons whose houses, constructed earlier by the government, are now found to be in a dilapidated condition, Each house will be constructed at a cost of `4 lakh, said CM N Rangasamy here on Wednesday. Dedicating the Semmiyanpalayam protected drinking water scheme to the public, the CM said that the administration would also construct toilets at a cost of `20,000 each for those who lack the facility.

Expressing concern on the depleting ground water level in Puducherry, CM N  Rangasamy said that the administration would construct bed dams to arrest this trend. He said the government was committed to provide adequate drinking water in all the villages. The Semmiyanpalayam water supply scheme is being implemented at a financial assistance of `1.76 crore from NABARD and 3,727 persons would be benefitted. Minister P Rajavelu and officials of the territorial administration among others participated in the function.
