State Wetland Authority Gets Cabinet Sanction

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Cabinet on Wednesday accorded sanction to form the Kerala State Wetland Authority. As per the decision, the Authority will be registered as a society under government control as per the 1955 Travancore- Kochi Literary Science Charitable Society Law.

 To be set up on the a of Central Wetland Regulatory Authority, the authority will have 11 members with the Forest Minister as chairman and Principal Secretary of the Environment Department as convener.  The Principal Secretaries of Water Resources, Science and Technology, LSG Departments and Agriculture Secretary will be the non-official members of the panel, while experts in the field of pollution control, Limnology, Hydrology, Biodiversity and Ecology will be members. The Cabinet has decided to create 112 new posts of teachers and headmasters in 16 government schools which were elevated as High Schools during 2011-12 academic year. Sanction has been given to create posts of 16 headmasters and 48 HSA posts in core subjects. Annually, this will add a financial liability of Rs 3.6 cr.
