Body of Student Found on Pallithura Coast

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The body of a 20-year-old IIST student was found on the Pallithura coast near Thumpa on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Judifa Surekha, daughter of Jeyaraju, a native of Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. She was a second semester student of the Indian Institute of Space and Technology, Valiyamala.  The Thumba police said that the body of Surekha was washed ashore on Saturday morning, around 9 am. The local fishermen informed us after they spotted her on the coast. As the body was not found decomposed, it is assumed that she might have jumped into the rough sea at midnight. “From the statements taken from the roommates and college officials, it is learnt that she took the extreme step after she came to know about her failure in the first semester examination, on Friday.
