Four Bar Owners Say 'no' to Polygraph

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Four bar owners on Monday informed the Vigilance Court here that they were not willing for the lie detection test in the bar bribery case.

Bar Hotel Association president Rajkumar Unni, secretary M D Dhanesh, bar owners John Kallat and Krishnadas Polakkulath told the court that they were not willing to undergo the test based on the legal opinion they got and also on the doctor’s advice.  The Vigilance court had given time to the four bar owners to clarify if they were willing for the polygraph test.

The Vigilance had sought the permission for a polygraph test on the witnesses after their statements contradicted that of Bar Association working president Biju Ramesh, the prime witness in the case. Ramesh had alleged that he had handed over `1 crore in two instalments to Finance Minister K M Mani to renew liquor licence.  The court had given strict direction to the four bar owners to inform it about their decision on May 25 after they sought extension for the same on two occasions.
