Man Loses Life in Wasp Attack

ALAPPUZHA: In an unfor tuna t e inicident, a 55-year-old man lost his life in a wasp attack. More than ten people who had reached to attend a marriage function at Kayamkulam sustained serious stings in the sudden attack on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Nasser, Kochuveetil, Vandikapally who was working in the Middle East and had reached his hometown six months ago.

The police said the incident took place around 12 noon. Nasser, was present in the GDM auditorium to attend the marriage of his nephew. Some of the guests opened a window in the third floor thereby displacing a wasp nest on the wall which fell on the head of Nazeer who was standing on the ground floor. No sooner did the wasps attack, than Nasser immediately fainted. He was rushed to the Kayamkulam Government Hospital for immediate medical attention and later shifted to a private hospital in Mavelikkara where he was pronounced dead. The cause of the death was anaphylactic shock, said doctors. As many as 10 people were also attacked by the wasps, but their condition is said to be stable.
