George Announces Plan to Field Candidate in Aruvikkara

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: P C George MLA’s attempt to corner the UDF at any cost was taken forward as he announced plans to put up a candidate in the Aruvikkara Assembly segment bypoll.

In the name of the rag-tag Anti-Corruption Democratic Front, a outfit patronised by him, a candidate will be in the fray for the bypoll, George told mediapersons here on Wednesday. He also predicted that the UDF candidate will be pushed to a fourth place in the polls.

The Anti-Corruption Democratic Front is an umbrella outfit for George’s very own Kerala Congress (Secular), the Muslim dominated SDPI and Dalits driven DHRM, apart from the Hindu Nadar community representing VSDP.

George claimed that the newly floated front has already identified six candidates fit to contest for the polls. Three among them will be shortlisted at a meeting of the front slated at Ernakulam on May 30. The final choice would be named on the basis of  a referendum on the trio among the people, he stated. “The candidate will be announced here on June 4,” he said.
