VS Fears 'Sabotage' in Bar Scam

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan has alleged the Vigilance department’s legal adviser holding talks with the Advocate General was the latest instance of attempt to sabotage the bar bribery case.

“The Advocate General’s post being a constitutional one, should not have intervened in a case against a Minister,” he said.  It was unbecoming for the Advocate General to  advise the Government in a case involving a minister.

He said the Advocate General’s salary was increased 100 percent from Rs 1 lakh to 2 lakh with retrospective effect. He will get Rs 50 lakh benmefits in addition, he said. VS pointed out that even the Supreme Court had advised against AG’s intervention in such cases.
