Local Body Poll: Draft Voters' List Tomorrow

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The draft voters’ list for the local body election in October would be published on June 1, the Kerala State Election Commission informed on Saturday.

The draft voters’ list has been prepared after re-arranging the photo-based voters’ list prepared by the Election Commission on January 1 this year, on a ward-basis. The re-arranging of voters’ list has been done after house verification by officials with technical support from National Informatics Centre.

Any person who has attained 18 years of age or above as on January 1 this year are eligible to vote for the local body election. The draft voters’ list includes all persons whose names figure in the voters’ list prepared by the Election Commission of India. Voters will be given the opportunity to include their names, make corrections and provide details of change in address after June 10. A detailed time-frame will be published by the State Election Commission after June 10. The voters’ list will be sent to all local bodies for verification. The list will also be available on  Copies of voters’ list will be provided free of cost to all recognised political parties and  parties which have representation in Legislative Assembly.

Individuals and other political parties can also get a copy of the voters’ list on payment of a prescribed fee from the respective local bodies. The secretaries of gram panchayats and municipalities and additional secretaries of corporations have been deputed as registration officers.

Applications for inclusion of name

Applications for inclusion of name in voters’ list and for making corrections can be submitted online. However, application for deletion of name from voters’ list should be submitted directly.
