Nadda Rates Modi Government's Achievements as Unequal

KOTTAYAM:Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Jagat Prakash Nadda has said that the country is going forward with achievements, and the world is looking towards India, thanks to the overall initiatives the Narendra Modi government has taken in a short period of one year.

He was inaugurating a BJP district unit meeting here on Saturday to celebrate the first anniversary of the Modi government. He said Modi government’s one year in power can be termed as ‘Saal Eak, Suruvaat Anek (one year, several initiatives).“A year before, our country was known for corruption, scams, scandal and power broking. However, the government led by Modi, who himself termed as a ‘pradhan sevak’, has zero tolerance towards corruption, and there is no power broking in the country.

“World has started recognising the country as a moving force and an upcoming economy. For the past nine years of UPA regime, GDP was never above 5 per cent. However, within one year of Modi government, the GDP has become 7.4 per cent, which is very close to China. Inflation, which was above 10 pc,  has gone down to 5 pc. This is the change Modi has brought to the country,” he said. The government has also changed the ‘elder brother’ attitude towards the states, and the meetings of National Development Council (NDC) have become active and a cooperative exercise, he said.Listing down the achievements of the NDA regime, he said Modi government could bring Rs 2,00,000 crore to the public exchequer through the auctioning of just 33 coalmine blocks out of a total of 200. Nearly Rs 1,10,000 crore was furthermore  added to the coffers with spectrum auctions. Both were areas choked with corruption during the UPA regime, he said. The Modi government could ensure economic security for farmers, labourers and the poor with the introduction of various insurance schemes and ensured them the facility of bank accounts, he said, adding that the government has committed itself to bring back the black-money.
