Director Mohan Roop Found Dead

THRISSUR: Director Mohan Roop, 53, was found dead inside his house at Thrissur Mission Quarters on Tuesday morning. According to police, the director had been suffering from several illnesses and was staying alone.

Director.jpgPolice have registered a case for natural death and the body was handed over to the relatives after conducting postmortem. He has done several Malayalam and Tamil movies. He debuted with Vetta, staring Mohanlal, Mammootty and Sreenivasan. He won Dr Ambedkar’s national award of Bharathiya Lalithakala Academy for ‘Thoothuvan’ and his noted films include Evare Sookshikkukka (1986), Varshangal Poyathariyathe (1987), Shilpi(1988), Excuse Me, Ethu Collegila (1991), Sparsham (1998), Kankal Ariyamal (2010) and Thoothuvan (2011).  He has done more than 100 documentaries and short films. He is survived by wife Preethi, son Mrinal and daughter Nila.
