KOZHIKODE: The police on Tuesday arrested a retired school teacher accused of sexually abusing an eight-year old girl at Payyoli.
The 70-year-old accused, who has been working as a drawing teacher at Sacred Heart’s English Medium School at Payyoli, was arrested on the basis of a complaint filed by the parents of a Class III student.
According to the complainant, the teacher sexually abused the girl inside the classroom. The case was registered under Section 9 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act . “The case is investigated. The statement of the relatives has been recorded. The statement of the girl will be recorded by a magistrate,” the officer said.
