KANNUR: Congress rebels led by Corporation Councillor P K Ragesh, who paved the way for CPM to come to power in the Kannur corporation, are bound to pose tough challenge to the Congress party in the Assembly elections too.The rebel group-’Aikya Janadhipathya Samrakshana Samithi’- has entered the poll fray, with taking decision to field P K Ragesh in Kannur or Azhikode assembly segment, which set for a high-stake battle in the coming election in district.
Ragesh told ‘Express’ that the Samithi has decided to field candidate against UDF in the assembly polls, as the Congress leadership failed to keep their promises. “Our main demand to re-constitute the Party’s Chirakkal block committee and Pallikkunnu Mandalam committee is yet to be taken into consideration,” Ragesh said. A meeting held on Sunday took the decision to filed candidate in the poll. The final decision will be taken later, Ragesh added.
