THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Taking a swing at the ruling UDF and the Opposition LDF for the current plight of the state on the development front, Union Health Minister J P Nadda on Wednesday squarely placed the onus for the developmental backwardness of the state on both the fronts.
Inaugurating the NDA convention here, he said that the UDF Government by indulging in corruption on a daily basis had brought bad name to the state. “Everyone in the Government, starting from the Chief Minister to the MLAs, indulge in corruption, looting the people's money, engage in nepotism and bring disgrace to the people of the state, who are otherwise known for being highly educated and politically conscious“ he said.
Referring to the violence unleashed by the CPM on its political opponents, Nadda said LDF was fostering political violence. “Whereever they are in majority, they are intolerant. Ther ideological weapon is violence. In 30 years, they have killed several of our cadre. Recently, too, they murdered one of our cadre. They left a youth paralised here by smashing his head with stones” he pointed out. But he said NDA would only respond to such attacks politically by offering a third alternative to the people.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has shown to the whole world what a good leadership can do. We are now a force to reckon with. In all global forums, we are being looked up with respect and admiration. In the global environmental conference, the US and Europe had to buy our views, he pointed out. The Central Government solved the border discord with Bangladesh in less than two years time. Besides, we offered timely assistance to calamity-hit Nepal, he said. “We even offered peace to Pakistan but with a strong message that talks and terror cannot go together anymore,” he asserted. The world has acknowledged that it was the right time to invest in India. Referring to the efforts at financial inclusiveness, he said the government could make over 21 crore people to open zero balance accounts. They also could deposit over 30,000 crore in those accounts, he said
Referring to the farmer-friendly and pro-poor measures like low premium insurance schemes, crop insurance and Atal Pension Yogana, he said Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants every farmer in the country to be insured.
