THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Aryancode police on Wednesday arrested a 21-year-old man on charges of raping a 14-year-old girl. The accused is Shine Raj, a native of Mylamoodu, near Vellarada. He is the neighbour of the victim. Police said the accused and the victim had been in love for quite some time. On Monday, the accused took the victim from her residence on the pretext of marrying her and reportedly abused her.
“We received a missing person complaint on Tuesday. The victim was traced and brought to the police station. The accused was also taken into custody. Though the accused and the victim had left the residence on their own, the police registered a case as the victim is a juvenile. The victim has been shifted to the Nirbhaya Shelter Home at Poojappura. The accused will be produced before the magistrate on Thursday.
68-year-old Home Nurse Raped
A 68-year-old home nurse was allegedly raped by a 36-year-old man at the former’s residence at Anchuthengu here on Monday night. The accused is Anas, 36, of Anchuthengu. He has been taken into custody, but the arrest will be recorded only after interrogation. The Anchuthengu police have registered a rape case in connection with the incident based on a complaint. Police said the incident occurred on Monday, around 12 midnight. Anas barged into the residence of the victim and groped her. Though she resisted his advances, he assaulted her, leaving her injured. The victim had been discharged from hospital, police said. She had been staying alone at her residence for quite some time. “It is learnt that the accused had been involved in several thefts and burglaries earlier. The accused resides nearby and his motive for entering the house could have been theft. A detailed interrogation is on and the arrest will be recorded after getting circumstantial evidence”, said G B Mukesh, Kadakkavoor CI. The victim is a widow and she has two children.
Man Sexually Abuses Daughter
Palakkad: An eight-year-old girl has been reportedly sexually assaulted by her father Manikandan at Mannarkad in Palakkad. The incident occurred on Tuesday night. The Mannarkad police have registered a case in connection with the incident based on the complaint of her mother.
