PC: Pinarayi's election as CM an injustice to VS

KOTTAYAM: Keeping a diplomatic distance from the UDF and the LDF, P C George who won the Assembly election as an Independent from Poonjar said the LDF would not have achieved such a victory if V S Achuthanandan had not contested in the election.

Speaking at a press conference here on Saturday, George said he would constitute a party named ‘Janapaksham’ (People’s Wing), and spread its wings across the State.

According to George, making Pinarayi Vijayan the Chief Minister of Kerala cannot be considered as a gentle response to the people who voted for the LDF. “By electing Pinarayi as the Chief Minister, they (the LDF) have meted out injustice to VS.

What would have been the fate of the LDF, if VS did not contest in the election,” he said, adding that he would neither become a part of the UDF nor the LDF in the Assembly.

“I don’t like to be a part of either the ruling dispensation or the Opposition. While opposing the wrongdoings of Pinarayi, I will extend my wholehearted support to his right decisions,” he said.

George, meanwhile, said that Oommen Chandy was the most popular leader the State had ever seen.

Responding to a query on the prospective Opposition leader, George said Ramesh Chennithala would be the Opposition leader.

“However, we can’t write off Chandy.

“The State has not seen a popular Chief Minister like him. He is a man of humanity,” he said, and launched a scathing attack against Kerala Congress (M) leader K M Mani, stating that the latter won the election with the support of SNDP leader Vellappally Natesan.

“He won the election with the support of Natesan, even in adverse conditions,” he said, adding that the Kerala Congress (KC) parties should be dissolved as they had lost their relevance.

“It is in such a situation that I decided to constitute a new ‘people’s wing’ party. The people of Kerala want people’s wing politics across the State,” he added.
