Burnt body of woman found in waste pit at Malappuram

Mystery shrouds the death of a 39-year-old married woman at Thenjipalam in Malappuram district when local residents found her burnt body lying in a waste pit on Wednesday morning.

KOZHIKODE: Mystery shrouds the death of a 39-year-old married woman at Thenjipalam in Malappuram district when local residents found her burnt body lying in a waste pit on Wednesday morning.

Police said that they got information about the incident when one of the residents rang up the police station around 6 am. The deceased was identified as Shailaja, wife of Rajan, Cherapullassery. The woman was staying along with her husband and three children at a quarters near Karuvangallil.

On Wednesday morning, when Rajan returned to house he could find only children sleeping in the bedroom. He conducted a search for his wife but couldn't trace her. Meanwhile, local residents noticed the body lying in a pit where the people used to dump plastic and other waste materials. On information, a police team reached the spot. Police have launched a detailed probe into the incident.
