KANNUR: The violence continues unabated in the district as two days after the killing of a CPM activist allegedly by RSS, a BJP activist was killed by a gang outside his house in Pinarayi, the native of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, on Wednesday morning.

According to police, BJP activist Ramit was killed outside his home by a gang who arrived in the vehicle at about 10.30am. He is the son of  BJP activist Uthaman, who was killed in 2002 at Keezhur near Irrity. Ramit, along with his family had recently moved to the new home in Pinarayi.

The killing is considered in retaliation to the killing of CPM branch secretary Mohanan, in Koothuparamba, on Monday.

The police had registered a case on eight people and reportedly identified the vehicle used for the crime.

Incidentally, the killing of BJP activist took place despite the police clamping prohibitory order in Koothuparamba police limits for three days from Tuesday and beefed up security in the sensitive area.
