'Online system for fish sale soon': Kerala Fisheries Minister

PATHANAMTHITTA: Fisheries Minister Mercykuttiamma has said that fish sale through online system will be implemented soon. Inaugurating the Fishmart outlet of the Matsyafed at Kozhenchery on Monday, the second one in the district after Konni, the Fisheries Minister said the measures are being taken to improve the quality of fish sold through the outlets.

online.jpgMercykuttiamma said that the Government would give thrust on inland fish farming, by using the inland waterways. The Minister said that the availability of fish seed is low in comparison with the demand. To meet the increased demand for fish seed, the Government would boost the production of fish seed from 2 million to four million, she said. Presiding over the function, Veena George MLA, said that steps would be taken for the construction a new bridge over Pampa river at Kozhenchery to lessen the traffic bottlenecks.Kozhenchery panchayat president Mini Shyam Mohan inaugurated the first sale.District panchayat vice-president George Mammen Kondoor delivered the keynote address.
