Probe into ‘women at Sabarimala’

Devaswom Minister Kadakampally Surendran has directed the Devaswom Vigilance to inquire into reports which said some women had visited the Ayyappa Temple at Sabarimala.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Devaswom Minister Kadakampally Surendran has directed the Devaswom Vigilance to inquire into reports which said some women had visited the Ayyappa Temple at Sabarimala.
The directive was given after pictures of the women visiting the shrine began circulating in the social media.

The Vigilance has been asked to verify the pictures, said the Minister.
It was said the women had visited the shrine along with a businessman in Kollam who was allegedly making arrangements for the visit of certain VIPs, said the Minister.
As per an order of the Supreme Court, women cannot be allowed into the shrine, Surendran said. The police are checking all pilgrims at Pampa, he said.
