THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley scheduled arrival here on Sunday to visit the house of slain RSS basti karyavah Rajesh at Sreekariyam, the BJP and the RSS are planning to keep alive the issue of political violence before the public and media at the national level. The BJP national leadership’s decision to send none other than a leader of Jaitley’s stature to Kerala was aimed at keeping alive the issue at the national level. The CPM central leadership has already come out against the BJP and the RSS for trying to invent an excuse to invoke Article 356 to impose President’s Rule. It is against this backdrop Jaitley is set to arrive here to express solidarity with the bereaved Dalit family.
On the BJP top brass’ decision to send the Union Minister to the state capital and the CPM PB’s tirade against the move, BJP state chief Kummanam Rajasekharan said there was no point in accusing the BJP and the RSS of trying to invoke Article 356. “What the RSS leadership expressed was its concern over the escalation in CPM’s murder politics. Everyone wants peace and tranquility to reign in Kerala. The RSS and the BJP leadership were convinced the prevailing situation in the state warranted imposition of President’s Rule on the state. The state government should realise law and order situation is alarming. It is the time for the government to act,” he said.
Kummanam justified Jaitley’s decision to undertake the visit saying there is nothing wrong with it.
‘Probe conspiracy angle’Kummanam said there were 15 perpetrators involved in Rajesh’s murder. “How did 15 miscreants come together to attack an unsuspecting Dalit youth. What have they achieved by killing the sole breadwinner of an indigent family? It cannot be considered as an isolated incident. The miscreants had been close to Minister Kadakampally Surendran and fellow CPM leaders,” he said.
Urging a probe into the conspiracy angle, Kummanam said the inquiry should look into the alleged role of the CPM higher-ups and those in the government in the murder.
