According to news reports, mother of actor Dileep, Sarojam Pillai has written a letter to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, raising questions about the investigation and asking him to intervene in the case.

The letter has been apparently handed over to the police chief Loknath Behera on Tuesday.

According to a report by Manorama Online, Sarojam alleges that Dileep is a victim of a conspiracy and he would be proven innocent if investigated properly. She also says that the current investigating officers should be changed and officials without vested interests should helm the probe. Dileep won't get justice if the case is given to agencies like Crime Branch.

The Kerala High Court had adjourned to August 18 the hearing on a fresh plea of Dileep in which he had submitted that the scenario had completely changed and he was not the kingpin of any criminal conspiracy or even a participant in it.

Dileep was arrested in July, charged under various sections of the IPC including plotting the kidnapping and assault of a prominent Malayalam actress on 17 February 2017.

He is currently lodged in an Aluva (Ernakulam) jail.
