Pursuit of Pulsar Suni: Kerala actress abductor eludes cops by the fingertips

KOCHI: Pulsar Suni, the most wanted man in Kerala right now, continues to elude the Kerala police 60 hours after he and his gang allegedly waylaid a leading Malayalam film actress’s car and proceeded to assault her for hours on the night of Feb. 17, 2017.

Pulsar Suni, whose real name is Sunil Kumar, has been playing hide and seek with the police since he dropped off the actress after night of horror. Clueless about Pulsar Suni’s whereabouts, the special investigation team set up to nab him has taken into custody the last man known to have met the fugitive former driver of the actress.

On Monday, police took an Ambalapuzha native, Anwar into custody, who allegedly aided Suni in eluding the police. Suni is believed to have met Anwar after Friday night’s incident. "We hope to get vital clues from him on the whereabouts of Suni," said a SIT officer.

While on the lam, Pulsar Suni is known to have contacted a film producer Anto Joseph. MLA PTI Thomas said it was arranged to have the film producer Anto Joseph call Pulsar Suni’s mobile phone, so that his location could be identified. When Pulsar Suni picked up the call, the producer handed the mobile to a police officer, but Pulsar Suni disconnected the call immediately.

PT Thomas said producer Anto Joseph had no role in the escape of Pulsar Suni.

The SIT is investigating the angle whether Pulsar Suni and his were hired to intentionally assault the actress, who is a leading lady in Malayalam and Tamil cinema. According to SIT officers, the actres disclosed to the investigating team that Pulsar Suni told her during her abduction he had been given a ‘quotation’ to carry out the assault. He also told her she would be taken to a flat at Thammanam where 20 people were waiting to assault her.

So far, the Kerala police have arrested three men who were in the seven-man gang that abducted and molested the actress. The first to be arrested was her driver Martin, who is accused of being in on the who episode along with her former driver Pulsar Suni. Two other men were arrested from Coimbatore on Sunday.
