KOCHI: Four days after the sensational sexual assault incident, investigators are groping in the dark about the motive behind the crime. The probe team is struggling to find answers to three questions: where is the objectionable video of the actor, who hired the gang to attack her and who is the unidentified member of the gang?
According to sources in the police, the actor in her statement said two members of the gang forcibly entered her vehicle and disrobed her before recording her video in a compromising position. The video was captured by key accused Pulsar Sunil. However, the investigators do not know where the video has gone after that.
Preliminary investigation indicates the motive behind the assault was to extort money from the victim by blackmailing her, a claim which has not been confirmed due to lack of credible evidence. It is not known who hired the seven-member gang for the ‘job.’
The driver who picked the actor from her residence in Thrissur was not familiar to her, and his name was revealed to her only when she took shelter at the residence of director Lal. “When Lal sir asked whether ‘Martin’ was aware of the incident, the driver said he did not know anything. When I explained everything to Lal sir, I came to know the person who assaulted me was Sunil”, the victim said in her statement.
“From the conversation of the persons who entered the vehicle, I understood there was one person named Pradeep and another named Arun. The other names I heard during the conversation were Arif and Unni. I can identify all of them, though I have not met them earlier,” said the statement.
So far, the police have arrested Martin, Vadival Salim, Pradeep, Manikandan and Anwar in connection with the case. Sunil is believed to have met Anwar after the incident. The police have launched a search for Sunil, Vijeesh and an unidentified person.
“Two persons entered the car forcibly and made me sit in between them. They ignored my requests to spare me. One of them said they wanted to meet me. But, I never expected the meeting would be like this,” said the victim in the statement.
