THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government will bring in a legislation to ban arms training in religious institutions, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday.

To questions in the Assembly, Pinarayi said the government would examine the speech of BJP leader K Surendran in Mangalore, where he reportedly claimed the BJP had retaliated to the murder of its workers.

Referring to former RSS worker S Vishnu’s alleged confession he was tortured by the Sangh, Pinarayi said many former RSS workers had started making public the nature of training provided in ‘Sakhas’ conducted by the RSS.

“The aim of the training is not to just kill, but kill with viciousness. The training is meant to squeeze out any element of humanity from the individual,” he said.

To a question, Pinarayi said the government intended to free temples, including tthe Kodungalloor Bhagavati Temple, from the clutches of the RSS. “It is a fact RSS activities at the temple are getting out of hand,” he said. The government is planning action against the misuse of ‘nadavaravu’ at the temple, he said.
