KOCHI: The Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) has cancelled the primary membership of actor Dileep following his arrest. The decision was announced by association general secretary Mammootty after holding an executive committee meeting with available members at his residence at Panampilly Nagar.
“Now that he has been charged with conspiracy and he has been arrested and sent to jail, we have decided to cancel Dileep’s primary membership. We would like to ascertain we are with our sister and we have always been so,” said Mammootty.
On queries on Innocent getting ousted from the post of AMMA president, Mammootty said those are all things which need to be discussed later. Mammootty also apologised to the public if the behaviour of some of its members during the post general body press meet of AMMA had hurt them.
The Producers Association, in its executive meeting, has expelled Dileep from his primary membership. FEFKA, the apex body of Malayalam movie technicians, also expelled Dileep from his membership as an assistant director. The newly formed Film Exhibitors United Organisation of Kerala (FEUOK) under the leadership of Dileep, has also ousted him from the post of patron. 
A major shock for us: Innocent
It seems AMMA president Innocent has made a climbdown from his earlier stand of backing Dileep when he said in his Facebook post none can justify the actor for such an act. In the FB post, Innocent said Dileep’s involvement in the conspiracy had come as a major shock. “We seriously pursued the incident in which one of our sisters was sexually assaulted. The people involved in such incidents should get deterrent punishment. It was based on police disclosure regarding Dileep’s involvement we decided to suspend his AMMA membership,” the FB post said.
