HC asks Centre to file statement on mother’s plea

The Kerala High Court on Tuesday directed to take steps to rescue and bring back the women and her 10-month-old baby reportedly in the custody of the Islamic State (IS) in Afghanistan.

KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Tuesday directed the Central Government to file a statement on a petition filed by Bindu Sampath, of Thiruvananthapuram, seeking a directive to take steps to rescue and bring back her daughter and her 10-month-old baby reportedly in the custody of the Islamic State (IS) in Afghanistan.

According to Bindu, her daughter Nimisha, alias Fathima, who is believed to have defected to the IS in Afghanistan with her child Ummakolusu, is in the IS camp in Afghanistan. 

Directive sought 
She also sought a directive to the Centre for prevailing upon the Afghanistan Government to find out the whereabouts of her daughter and granddaughter Ummakolusu.Her daughter was forcibly converted, trapped, misled and taken to Afghanistan against her will and they are eager to return home. The petitioner said she had got a message they were in Afghanistan. The lives of my daughter and granddaughter are in danger, she said.
