THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Condemning the attack on the BJP headquarters, the CPM has suspended four of its local leaders, including party’s corporation councillor I P Binu for the attack pending inquiry by the CPM district committee.

In the backfoot after visuals of the attack on BJP headquarters came to light, party state secretariat condemned the attack.
The CPM called on its cadre to keep restraint and not get provoked by constant attacks from the saffron party. The party state chief said there was an attempt to attack the CPM state headquarters on Thursday night.

The CPM however unleashed a scathing attack on the BJP-RSS for attempting to destabilise the government by creating provocation. At a press conference, party state chief Kodiyeri Balakrishnan alleged his house was attacked with the knowledge of BJP senior leaders.
Kodiyeri said the attack on CPM workers was part of a planned move and not an isolated incident. The attacks on party state secretary’s house was carried out with the knowledge of senior leaders.
Referring to the attack on BJP headquarters, Kodiyeri said the CPM is of the view “no party offices or party workers’ residences should be attacked - whatever be the provocation.”
Referring to the specific incident, Kodiyeri said the BJP-RSS workers had attacked councillor Binu’s house and intimidated his family. The attack on the BJP office was a continuation of this.
