THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The BJP is not against love, but is against the use of it as a tool for religious recruitment, party state spokesperson M S Kumar said on Sunday. He was presiding over the launch of a music CD and a special edition of its monthly magazine ‘Chithi’ to mark BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan’s ‘Janaraksha Yatra’ starting on Tuesday from Payannur.

“The BJP is not against love or love marriages. But love should be for love. Not for recruitment to any religion and sending them to Syria,” he said. To drive home its point, the BJP selected R S Vimal, whose directorial debut ‘Ennu Ninte Moideen’ retold the love story of Moideen and Kanchanamala, to receive the CD. The lyrics of the songs were composed by  Vayalar Saratchandra Varma and poet Anil Panachooran.
The album also contains a piece on ‘love jihad’ and its lyrics were penned by Panachooran.

The Janaraksha Yatra aims to raise two issues among the public - political intolerance of the CPM-led government and religious extremism, with specific reference to ‘love jihad’.O Rajagopal MLA released the CD and the special edition of ‘Chithi’. “It is important to expose ‘green jihad’ or ‘red terrorism’ which are against a peaceful democratic process,” Rajagopal said.
