IUML seeks police action in fake news against state president Panakkad Hyderali Shihab Thangal

The fake message states Thangal spoke against airing devotional songs in temples in the morning.

MALAPPURAM: The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) has approached the police seeking stern action against the spread of malicious fake news through social media against the party’s state president Panakkad Sayed Hyderali Shihab Thangal. Party state committee member PA Jabbar Haji on Saturday submitted a complaint to state police chief Loknath Behera seeking immediate action against those behind the fake message.  

A release, issued by the party here on Saturday, said the statement in the name of Thangal is fake. The release also made it clear Thangal has not issued such a statement anywhere.The fake message states Thangal spoke against airing devotional songs in temples in the morning.Party national general secretary P K Kunhalikutty said the fake message was meant to flare up communal tension by fabricating a false statement using Thangal’s photo which is easily available to all. Jabbar also asked the police to take action to  stem the spread of the false message.
