THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The special investigation team probing the murder of radio jockey Rajesh has issued lookout notices at all airports and railway stations in the country to nab the culprits. On Saturday, the police extended the probe to Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu after receiving information that they had fled to these states.According to Attingal DySP P Anilkumar, separate teams have been sent to Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Maharashtra. “There were reports they were trying to flee abroad from Mumbai. So, we have also sent alerts to all the airports. We are closing in on them,” he said.
On Friday, a red Swift car used by the four-member gang from Ochira was recovered by the police. The car was identified from the CCTV visuals. Later it was found that the car was hired from a rent-a-car agency in Kayamkulam. A total of nine persons were taken into custody for interrogation. They were later released.
The investigation team also got vital leads about an NRI who allegedly gave the quotation work for killing Rajesh. The police said there were unconfirmed reports that Rajesh was in a relationship with the NRI’s wife, who is a native of Alappuzha. The call details of Rajesh was also verified by the police. It was revealed that Rajesh was conversing with a woman in an internet number when he was assaulted.
Rajesh aka Rasikan Rajesh, 36, of Kilimanoor was hacked to death outside his studio by a four-member team around 2 am last Tuesday. Rajesh’s assistant Kuttan was also attacked. However, he escaped from the spot immediately. He is still under treatment at the Medical College Hospital. The murder took place when Rajesh arrived at his studio with his friend Kuttan after a performance at a local temple.
