THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:  The Regional Cancer Center (RCC) at Thiruvananthapuram was provided a clean chit by a two-member internal committee which inquired into an alleged medical negligence case here.

The committee which handed over its findings to health secretary Rajeev Sadanandan on Tuesday said there was no lapse on the RCC’s part in the incident and the departments concerned had ensured appropriate care and treatment for the patient in question. Rajeev told Express there was no lapse on the part of the RCC  and added the matter is now closed.

“I personally examined the report as well as the records. I completely concur with the findings of the committee,” he said.

The additional chief secretary (Health) ordered an internal inquiry last Thursday into the allegation of a doctor through social media that his wife died due to the negligence on the part of some doctors at the RCC as they didn’t diagnose her properly.
