THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The police team investigating the murder of RJ Rajesh on Tuesday arrested two people, including one of the attackers, from Pettah Railway Station.

Appunni, 31, from Kayamkulam, who was part of the three-member hit squad, and his brother-in-law Sumit, 34, from Chennithala were picked up from the railway station when the duo was returning from their hideouts in Tamil Nadu.

Police sources said the duo was hiding in various places in Tamil Nadu, including Puducherry, Madurai and Rameswaram.

Appunni was the only hit man still on the run. Two of his accomplices - Salih and Thanseer - were already apprehended.

Sumit was arrested for harbouring Appunni. With Tuesday's haul, the number of arrests have gone up to seven. Meanwhile, the police have fulfilled all the requirements for extraditing Sathar, who gave the 'supari', from Qatar.

The police had earlier revealed Sathar had planned the murder of Rajesh for maintaining an extramarital relationship with his wife. Though Sathar got separated from his wife, he had a grudge towards Rajesh whom he held responsible for spoiling his marriage and disrupting his business.
