THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The SFI leader's murder at Ernakulam Maharaja's College was planned murder by extremist elements, alleged CPI(M) state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan.

In a statement here, the CPM state chief pointed at SDPI behind the incident.

Abhimanyu, a second year Degree student with Maharaja's College Ernakulam, was stabbed to death on the wee hours of Monday.

"It was a planned murder. A move by the extremist forces to spread fear in the minds of students," Kodiyeri alleged.

In a statement issued here, the CPM state chief pointed out that Abhimanyu is the 33rd SFI leader to be killed by political opponents.

"Extremist forces who are isolated among the student community, are trying to spread fear among the students. Communal forces operating at different levels, are spreading violence in Kerala campuses. This murder is part of the series of violence unleashed by the RSS and SDPI against SFI workers," Kodiyeri alleged.

He urged the students to be cautious against such purported moves by extremist elements. He also urged the public to organise state-wide protests against the event.
