KOCHI:The actor also said the AMMA office-bearers were ready to hold talks with the members of Women in Cinema Collective (WCC). “We have received their letter demanding a meeting with AMMA in connection with the resignation of the four members. We are ready to meet them after the executive committee meeting,” Mohanlal said. According to him, though four WCC members claimed to have quit AMMA recently, the association had received the resignation letters of only two - of the victim as well as that of actor Remya Nambeesan.

New bylaw soon

Mohanlal also hinted that AMMA would soon amend its bylaw. “The present bylaw is 25 years old and it needs amendment. We are planning to do so. We also believe women should be given more representation in the association. We have been receiving complaints that of the total 484 members of AMMA, many were not getting opportunities in films frequently. We will put forth a request before the filmmakers to give them roles in at least one movie a year,” he added.

Black Humour

On the complaints that AMMA made a mockery of WCC members through a skit presented at the stage show ‘Amma Mazhavillu’, Mohanlal said it was just a black humour. “We did not do it purposefully. It was scripted by some of the women members of AMMA. We never had an intention to belittle WCC. It was just a black humour,” he said. Regarding the complaints raised by the victim in the actor assault case that Dileep had denied her opportunities to act in movies, Mohanlal said she had not submitted any official complaint in that regard.

“I was an office-bearer of AMMA at that time. She had not submitted any written complaint to AMMA stating Dileep was denying her chances to act,” clarified Mohanlal. He also said, personally he was with the survivor. “I also pray Dileep is not involved in this case,” he said.
