NDA’s door is open to all communities: Sreedharan Pillai

THRISSUR: Minutes after being named the new BJP state president, P S Sreedharan Pillai outlined the road map for the party in Kerala, including bringing in more like-minded ones to the NDA’s fold.
In a chat with Express, 64-year-old Pillai, who had previously held the state chief’s post from 2003 to 2006, said his rapport with community organisations like the NSS would be a great asset to the party when it contests the general election in 2019.

“I’ve a strong personal relationship with leaders of the NSS and SNDP. In the next general election, the BJP will get the support of the various communities,” said Pillai.Pillai said leaders of certain political parties, which are now part of the LDF and UDF, have shown interest in joining hands with the BJP. Their names will be revealed as and when the BJP starts its run-up to the Lok Sabha election, he added.

“In the last election, we managed to acquire high vote share in many of the constituencies. The party will look to increase this in the upcoming Lok Sabha election. We’ll work towards winning seats from favourable constituencies,” Pillai exuded confidence.Pillai, hailing from Venmony, Alappuzha district, was the BJP’s candidate at the last Assembly bypoll in Chengannur.
