Project to develop students’ entrepreneurship skills

With the success of the national exposure programme, the Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) and the State Institute of Education Technology (SIET) are joining hands.

KOZHIKODE: With the success of the national exposure programme, the Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) and the State Institute of Education Technology (SIET) are joining hands again to roll out a new multi-skill development project for school students. The national exposure programme takes select students from the state for a visit to premier institutes across the nation. 

Aimed at promoting entrepreneurship skills among students of classes IX and X, the project is set to be launched in state in July. As many as 40 students from each district will be shortlisted for the project apart from a total of 70 high school, higher secondary and vocational higher secondary school teachers. 

A training is already being conducted for the selected teachers. In the first phase, students will be given a three-day residential coaching in entrepreneurship skill development. The students are selected through district-level aptitude exams and written tests.

The residential coaching will cover three key areas - IT, tourism and general entrepreneurship skills. “The classes are expected to develop the communication, analytical and observational skills of the participants,” said SIET director B Aburaj. Following the first phase of, the students, with the help of their teachers will be encouraged to come up with entrepreneurship ideas and initiatives.
