Malankara Church starts inquiry over sexual exploitation allegation against five priests

The sexual exploitation allegation was raised against by a member of the laity who stated five priests were blackmailing his wife for sexual favours.

KOTTAYAM: Making its stand clear on the sexual exploitation allegations against five priests, Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church (MOSC) authorities said a fair and unbiased inquiry into the allegations is on at the respective diocese, as per the rules of the Church.

In a press note issued from the MOSC headquarters at Devalokam, it noted that appropriate action will be taken if the allegations are proven right. “The Church will not protect them if they are found guilty. At the same time, the church will not punish the innocent.

Those who raised the allegation will be given an opportunity to prove their part and the accused will face the deserved outcome. The Church admits the concerns of the church followers as well as the public,” the communique said. The sexual exploitation allegation was raised against by a member of the laity who stated five priests were blackmailing his wife for sexual favours.
