TIRUVALLA: The enquiry commission, appointed by the Niranam diocese of Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, to look in to alleged sexual harassment allegations against five priests in the Church, conducted its sitting at the Bishop house, Thiruvalla on Thursday to collect evidences regarding the allegations.
The enquiry commission collected the detailed statement complainant regarding the allegation that his wife’s secret confession was used by the priests to sexually abuse her.

The commission consists of advocates Pradeep Mammen, Mathew George and Fr Reji Mathew. The three-member commission is handling allegations only against three priests, who belong to the Niranam Diocese. According to Church sources, the allegations against other two priests will be considered at their respective dioceses.

Speaking to media persons after attending inquiry Commission’s sitting, the complainant said he gave statement before the commission and handed over the material evidences pertaining to his complaint. “Since the National Commission for Woman has intervened in the matter, police might be forced to register a case against the accused. I will then share all the evidence to the police,” he said.

He, however, refused to comment more on the matter. “All evidences will be presented before the authorities concerned including police in proper time,” he said. He also added that a common man should get justice from the Church. At present, his wife is living with her mother and father.
