KOTTAYAM: Making his political stance clear on the Sabarimala issue, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan hit hard at the BJP-Sangh Parivar, at the same time, appealing to the devotees and those who support them to take an appropriate stand, if they are misled by the false campaigning of the Sangh organisations. Pinarayi was inaugurating a political explanatory meeting organised by the LDF here on Thursday.
In a strong message to those protesting against the government, Pinarayi asserted nobody will be allowed to camp at Sabarimala. “Some people claim they have the right to camp at some places. The government will not permit any such rights. Everybody has the right to have darshan at Sabarimala and there won’t be any discrimination. Taking into account the flow of lakhs of devotees, there need to be certain arrangements, which will be made by the Devaswom Board and others,” he said.
He said strict action will be taken against those who are coming out with ‘declarations’.Coming down on the BJP-RSS camp, he said nobody will be allowed to make Sabarimala a riot zone. “Even the BJP Government at the Centre is aware the SC order can’t be bypassed with an ordinance. Hence, they are trying to create violence and also triggering the sentiments (of the devotees) as well as misleading a section of people. Some of them might have been misled in this attempt. They should correct their stance,” he said.
Pinarayi, at the same time, remembered the progressive movements, especially those related to the rights of women and said they would not have been possible had the people then dropped their stance following a section of people were mistaken for their efforts. “When a section of people gathered at a place with some noise, don’t think you are a great force. Considering the strength of secularism in the country, your only a very meagre force,” he said. In an indirect message to the NSS leadership, Pinarayi said social reformers like Mannathu Padmanabhan had fought against the unethical practices like Nair sons being barred from touching their Namboothiri fathers.
Pinarayi criticised Rahul Easwar’s revelation there was a plan to drop blood at the shrine to deliberately close down the sanctum sanctorum. “This was not intended to protect, but to destroy Sabarimala. Can the devotees stand by this?” he asked.
He said the BJP and Sangh Parivar orginisations have dubious intention in their attempt to establish faith is above the Constitution. Turning against the Congress, he said the party is taking the job of supplying followers to the BJP. “A large section of leaders and cadre have one foot in the BJP camp,” he said.
