KOCHI: As many as 58 government schools in the district will be brought under CCTV camera surveillance from next academic year.
District Panchayat President Asha Sanil said six high-definition cameras will be installed at each school, having set aside Rs 58 lakh from its 2019-20 for the project.
“After office hours, anti-social elements are taking over the schools. Causing damage to toilets is the most common problem. Since we don’t have the provision to appoint a security guard at each school, CCTV is the only option to find out them,” said Asha.
The plan is to invite tender for carrying out the project within this week itself.
