SABARIMALA: Sabarimala will open on Tuesday for the five-day monthly poojas for the Malayalam month of Kumbhom. Melsanthi Vasudevan Nampoothiri will open the Sreekovil of the temple at 5 pm in the presence of thantri Kandararu Rajeevaru. As an ongoing practice of the temple, no ritual will be performed at the Sreekovil in the evening.
Kalabhabhishekam, Sahasrakalasam and Laksharchana will be the special rituals to be performed during the five days. Kalabhabhishekam will be performed on the first day of the monthly pooja on Wednesday. As part of the special ritual, the thantri will perform Brahmakalsa pooja at the Mandapam of the temple at 10 am in the presence of Melsanthi Vasudevan Nampoothiri.
The ritual will conclude with Kalabhabhishekam on the idol of Ayyappa during the Uchcha pooja after the procession carrying the Brahamakalasam led by the thantri circumambulating the Sreekovil of the temple.
Laksharachana will be the other special ritual on the first day of the Kumbhom Malayalam month.
In connection the ritual, the thantri will perform Brahamkalasa pooja at the Mandapam of the temple at 6 am in the presence of Melsanthi Vasudevan Nampoothiri.
After the Brahamkalasa pooja, the thantri will lead a dozen scholars to chant Vedic mantras which will conclude before the Uchcha pooja.The ritual will conclude after kalasabhishekam on the idol of Ayyappa during Uchcha pooja. Udayasthamana pooja, Padi pooja and Pushpabhishekam will be the other rituals. The temple will be closed on February 17, marking the conclusion of the five-day monthly poojas.
The parking facility for pilgrims’ vehicles will be available at Nilackal pilgrim transit camp.KSRTC will operate special schedules to and fro from Nilackal.
