THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The UDF on Wednesday launched a frontal attack on Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and LDF after Governor Arif Mohammed Khan made it clear that he read the controversial remarks against the CAA in the policy speech after the chief minister requested him to do so.

Leader of Opposition Ramesh Chennithala alleged that there was a tacit understanding between the chief minister and governor. Though the two had been fighting in the public sphere, there was a clear-cut understanding between them.

"The Left should not have kneeled down before the governor who had challenged the state publicly. The deft move was the CM’s attempt to extricate himself from the SNC Lavalin case," he said. He added that if there was any sincerity in the CM’s stance, he should allow the resolution to recall the governor to be taken up for discussion.

KPCC president Mullappally Ramachandran said the new developments in the assembly have vindicated the Congress’ stance not to hold joint protests with LDF against the CAA. The LDF has always been running with the hare and hunting the hounds and their love for minority is a farce, he said.
