BHUBANESWAR: An Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police who was convicted of accepting bribe has been dismissed from service.
The police official Patitapaban Dalabehera was posted at Laxmi Sagar police station.
However, the case against him pertained to his tenure at Bolagarh where he had demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs 1,000 from a villager to finalise the case instituted against him. He was caught red-handed.
The Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar, in his judgment on April 30, had found Dalabehera guilty of the charges and handed out a prison sentence.
After the judgment, the Khurda SP dismissed Dalabehera from his service with immediate effect.
